About BusinessOps.ai

AI looks great in a demo. We care whether it works on Monday.

BusinessOps.ai helps small and midsize businesses figure out where AI can make a real difference, then puts it to work.

We assess operations, identify opportunities, help companies make smart technology decisions, and build solutions that work with the systems they already have.

Our background is in building and running technology for real businesses. We know the difference between something that looks impressive and something that’s actually worth paying for.

Sometimes the answer is AI. Sometimes it’s a simpler automation, a better process, or getting more out of software you already own.

We’ll tell you what we think makes sense.

Let’s talk about your business

What we do

Start with the problem. Not the technology.

Some businesses come to us with a specific project. Others know they’re spending too much time or money on manual work but aren’t sure where to start. We help with both.

  1. 01

    Assess

    Where are the opportunities?

We look at how your business operates, where time and money are being spent, and which processes could benefit from AI or automation.

We evaluate potential returns, costs, risks, and implementation complexity.

You get a prioritized, practical understanding of what’s worth pursuing. Not a hundred-page strategy document that sits on a shelf.

  2. 02

    Advise

    What’s the right way forward?

We help leadership teams evaluate technology, choose tools, plan implementations, and navigate decisions around AI adoption.

That includes understanding what’s feasible, what to build versus buy, and how to manage cost, reliability, and risk.

We don’t have a particular platform we’re trying to sell you.

  3. 03

    Build

    Make it work.

We build agents, automate workflows, connect systems, and implement solutions that take actual work off people’s plates.

We focus on reliability, appropriate human oversight, and making sure the people using the technology understand how it works.

Our involvement can extend beyond implementation, but the goal is always to give your business greater capability and control.

Experience

We’ve been doing the hard parts of technology for a long time.

BusinessOps.ai was founded by David Montz, who has spent more than 30 years building software, leading technology organizations, and solving complex business problems. He’s served twice as CTO, led engineering teams of more than 100 people, and managed multimillion-dollar technology budgets.

That experience matters.

Technology projects rarely fail because someone couldn’t write the code. They’re more likely to struggle with messy data, disconnected systems, unrealistic expectations, or solutions that don’t fit the way people actually work. We’ve seen those challenges firsthand.

Our engagements are led by experienced technology leadership, not handed off to a junior team after the sales call. When projects require more capacity or specialized skills, we bring in additional engineering, data, and domain expertise.

We keep the approach practical and the team appropriate to the work.

Our own business

We use this stuff ourselves.

One place we put AI to work every day is The Original Stretchlace, an e-commerce brand David and his wife brought to Shark Tank. Like plenty of growing businesses, it has to manage inventory, vendors, advertising, financial operations, and all the little tasks that pile up between them.

We’ve been using AI agents to take on more of that work. For example, an inventory transfer that previously required hours of checking forecasts, coordinating shipments, and updating different systems can now be prepared by agents, with a person reviewing and approving the work.

And we’re seeing measurable results. In our own e-commerce operations, we’ve reported:

  • $3,000+a month cut from agency and software bills
  • 80%fewer Amazon stockouts once agents took on inventory work

Results from a business we actually operate, not a hypothetical case study, and not a promise for yours.

We’re also learning plenty about where agents struggle, when they need supervision, and which processes aren’t worth automating.

We bring those lessons into our client work.

Meet the founder

A little about the person behind BusinessOps.ai.

David lives in Phoenix with his wife and three boys. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his family.

He’s spent his career building things and still enjoys getting his hands dirty with code. That curiosity is a big part of what drives BusinessOps.ai.

Teach a person to fish.

“Give a person a fish, and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime.”

That’s how we think about our work. We don’t want clients dependent on us for every little change or decision. We want them to understand the technology they’re using, have control over their systems, and be able to build on what we’ve started.

We’re here when clients need us. But they shouldn’t need to call us every time they want to catch another fish.

Have a business problem you think AI could help solve?

Let’s talk about it. We’ll help you figure out whether there’s a real opportunity and what it might take to pursue it.
